Advantages
1. **Lightweight:** Carbon fiber material has a low density, so the frame made from it is lighter. Typically, a carbon fiber road bike frame weighs around 1200 grams, and it is not difficult to make a frame weighing only about 1 kilogram. This significantly improves the vehicle's acceleration performance and handling, providing the driver with a more responsive driving experience.
2. **High Strength:** Carbon fiber has high tensile strength, which can improve vehicle pedaling efficiency and handling performance. Even in extreme situations such as high-speed driving and emergency braking, it can perform well, providing drivers with a safer driving environment.
3. **Good Comfort:** Carbon fiber frames can provide better shock absorption, effectively reducing vibrations when encountering bumps while maintaining good rigidity, thereby improving riding comfort.
4. **High Design Freedom:** Carbon fiber frames are generally made by first making a mold, then attaching carbon fiber sheets to the mold, and finally bonding them with epoxy resin. Therefore, various cool shapes can be designed according to aerodynamic principles, which are not only beautiful but also have very low wind resistance, which helps to improve driving speed and efficiency.
Disadvantages
1. **High Price:** The manufacturing process of carbon fiber frames is complex, requires a lot of manual operation, and has a high scrap rate, leading to soaring costs. Therefore, the price of top-level carbon fiber frames can be as high as tens of thousands of yuan.
2. **Not Impact Resistant:** Carbon fiber frames have weak puncture resistance. If subjected to a severe external impact, especially a 90° impact force, the frame is more likely to be damaged. Once damaged, it is difficult to repair and may require replacement of the entire frame.
3. **Prone to Aging:** Carbon fiber frames should be avoided from prolonged exposure to high temperatures, otherwise they are prone to aging.
Carbon fiber frames have advantages such as light weight, high strength, good comfort, and high design freedom, but disadvantages such as high price, poor impact resistance, and easy aging should not be ignored.
